Contractor: Emil Anderson Construction
Project: 2010 Winter Olympic Ski Jump Access
Road and Facility
Location: Whistler, British Columbia, Canada
Dates:
August 2006 - June 2007
Contractor purchased a Port-A-Pour Series-II Canadian
Ministry of Transportation Spec batch plant in March of
2006 to provide on site concrete at a remote
mountainside construction site. The project currently
requires 3 types of mix-designs with compressive
strengths of up to 35 Megapascal (5,000+ psi). The
mix-designs currently use air-entrainment, mid-range
water reducers and retarders. Accelerators will be used
later in the year as ambient temperatures decline.
A fly-ash option was added at the time that the plant
was set up at the job site. A 20% fly-ash substitute
for cement is currently being used.
An engineering firm is performing quality control and a
materials testing company is performing quality
assurance.
